High Ropes Registrations Due Tomorrow!

High school students: High Ropes Registration forms & $25 payment are due tomorrow night, Oct. 12th. About 12 students expressed interest but we have NO registrations yet. This is such a great opportunity to take advantage of, but we won’t be able to take late registrations because of UCF’s policies for the course. If you’re hoping to come, please make sure to get this one in on time.

If you need another copy of the waivers (they were emailed to parents), please contact Matt Lowe or comment below requesting a new set.

Summer Missions Mtg. Postponed – some info in the meantime

I don’t have as many answers about summer missions trips as I was hoping by now, so we’re not going to have an informational meeting this Sunday. Instead, please read below for an update!

If you’re interested in a trip, please PRAY that God leads us to the right decisions. Also, let me know if you’re interested, and in which one.

Latin America Trip
Students finishing 9th & up: either Paraguay or El Salvador
Paraguay – We have a great ongoing relationship with the Sappia’s who serve there & I have great confidence in working with them. Likely ministry would include children’s ministry, helping their church with outreach, VBS etc.
Down sides – I’ve not been able to get ahold of their field director and airfare is high – so probably close to $2,000 cost.

El Salvador – We have no personal contacts here. But it’s an Alliance mission with a lot of opportunities—outreach w/ the church, orphanage work, sports or music outreaches & working with their ministry to restore economic, structural & family brokenness.
This is an established Alliance site so setting up the trip would be easy. Cost around $1,200 b/c of much lower airfare.

Chicago Trip
Students finishing 7th & up (older middle / high school trip)
I’m waiting to hear back from Inner City Impact & Jesus People USA about partnering with them. There is plenty of intense, city ministry in Chicago with immigrants, the poor, children etc. Honestly – I am still praying over whether this trip is feasible or not for me & a team. Getting more details back from ICI & JPUSA will help a lot.

Middle School
We are NOT currently looking at a straight-up middle school missions trip for 2012. Instead, our desire is to set up several Missions@Home projects as a starting point for younger ones. These are usually free and done in one day. Likely we’ll look at a middle school-only trip in 2013 when high school goes to the LIFE Conference.

Summer Camp – now at Lake Placid – is July 2-7 and open to all students.

Gleaning is Full – but 2 drivers still needed!

As of last night, all the spots available for volunteers to pick corn on Saturday, Oct. 29th are taken. So, if you haven’t turned in a Registration/Waiver form yet…it’s too late. :(

WAITING LIST: If you didn’t get signed up yet – you can still turn in a form to get put on a waiting list. We ARE going to ask if we can expand our group size to add more people. Someone also may need to cancel & free up a spot. If space opens up, obviously, we can add more.

2 DRIVERS NEEDED: We have 2 spots still reserved for adults who can drive people to the project & back & are willing to help chaperone. If you’re able to help & want to join us, please reply to me or let Mark Himschoot know!
